Your server goes down. Your website doesn't.

DRSite backs up your site, watches it from several locations, and keeps a standby copy ready to serve visitors while you fix the problem.

What happens when your site goes down

Most backup tools stop at the backup. DRSite follows the whole incident, from the last good copy to the moment your own server is back.

  1. Back up on schedule

From weekly to every 15 minutes, depending on your plan. Files and databases (and mail, on Plesk) go to encrypted storage away from your server, with a further copy, locked against ransomware, in the Cold Vault for Plesk sites, and WordPress sites and websites on Enterprise.

  2. Watch from several places

We check your site from multiple locations. One slow network doesn't count as an outage; at least two locations have to agree.

  3. Switch to the standby copy

Visitors are sent to a recent copy of your site, and you get an alert telling you what failed and when.

  4. Switch back when you're ready

Once your server is fixed, point traffic home when you're ready. Fail back with changes copies orders, posts and mail from the standby to your server first.

Works from the panel you already use

Install the DRSite plugin or extension and manage protection next to your sites, not in yet another dashboard.

  • WordPressA plugin for single sites on any host. Connect it with your API key: full backups of files and database go straight to DRSite storage, and your first one runs right away.
  • cPanelBackups for each account inside cPanel. Standby copies and failover for cPanel are coming next.
  • PleskAn extension for the whole server: a DR protection tab for every domain with one-click failover and failback, full Plesk backups to the Cold Vault, automatic updates, and a DR protection page for your resellers and customers.

More than a backup

The things that matter on the bad day, and the quiet checks that make sure it goes well.

  • Cold VaultA weekly copy kept for 5 weeks, a monthly copy for 13 months and a yearly copy for 7 years, each locked so it can't be changed or deleted, not even with your server's own keys. Away from your server and your hosting company, and encrypted at rest (AES-256). For Plesk sites, and WordPress sites and websites on Enterprise.
  • Preview the standbyOpen your standby copy at a temporary address without touching DNS, and after every sync a health check compares it with your live site.
  • Fail back with changesOrders, comments and mail that arrive while visitors are on the standby are copied back to your server before traffic returns.
  • DoctorProblems are grouped, explained in plain words, and often fixed in one click: a failed backup retried, a standby re-synced, an extension updated.
  • Instant failover with CloudflareOn Enterprise, Cloudflare Load Balancing moves visitors within seconds, or shares them between your server and the standby.
  • Move your DNS to Cloudflare, freeDRSite sets up the zone in your own Cloudflare account and copies your records. You change the nameservers at your registrar, and DRSite takes it from there.
  • Windows Plesk servers tooSites on Windows Plesk are backed up in full, and their standby copy is made from those backups (the site's files).
  • iPhone appYour sites, backups and failover on your phone, with an alert the moment a site goes down. In beta on TestFlight; get the app.
  • Status page for your visitorsOn Premium and Enterprise, a public status page shows your sites' uptime, at a private link only you share.
  • Linux servers without a panelA small agent backs up the whole server, encrypted, to your Cold Vault on your plan's schedule, and restores it with one command. Windows servers, Windows PCs and Macs are coming soon.
  • DRSite DNS, freePoint your domain at DRSite's nameservers and failover can change your records straight away, whoever your registrar is.
  • Protected from the first minuteAdd a site and DRSite keeps a copy of its homepage straight away, before you install anything.
  • Try failover safelyA guided demo walks you through failing over and back, so you know what happens before the day you need it.
  • Proxmox for hostsConnect your Proxmox VE cluster: snapshots, backups and restore as a new VM for each customer VPS, from DRSite.
  • Two-factor sign-inProtect your DRSite account with a code from an authenticator app.
  • Early warningsDomain expiry reminders 30 days ahead, SSL certificate checks, and your site's history from the Internet Archive.

For hosting companies

Offer disaster recovery to your customers without building it.

  • Sell it from WHMCSOur WHMCS module adds DRSite per domain. Each order creates the customer's own DRSite account; you keep the billing.
  • Protect a whole Plesk serverOne extension covers every domain, with views for your resellers and customers limited to their own sites.
  • Server plans, billed with PleskMatched to Plesk's editions and bought in the Plesk Extensions Catalog, at Standard level (upgrade any site to Premium): Server 10 £25, Server 30 £50, Server Unlimited £100 a month (fair use up to 100 sites).

What's the difference between a backup and disaster recovery?

A backup is a copy you can restore from later. Disaster recovery keeps your site reachable while the problem is happening, so visitors see your pages instead of an error.

How does DRSite know my site is really down?

We check from several locations. A single location failing is treated as a network blip; an outage needs at least two locations to agree.

Where are my backups stored?

In encrypted cloud storage, separate from your hosting server, so a server failure doesn't take your backups with it. You choose the region: the EU (Amsterdam) by default, or the US. For Plesk sites, and WordPress sites and websites on Enterprise, the Cold Vault also keeps weekly, monthly and yearly copies, each locked so it can't be changed or deleted.

Can I test a recovery without touching my live site?

Yes. Open a preview of your standby copy at a temporary address and check it in your browser. Your live site and its DNS aren't changed.

Is there a free trial?

Every new site gets a 30-day free trial with no card. Choose Standard or above and the trial runs on Standard, failover included; choose Essential and it runs on Essential. Before it ends we'll remind you to choose a plan; if you don't, protection pauses and nothing is deleted.

Does it protect against ransomware?

Yes. Your backups are stored away from your server, and the Cold Vault keeps weekly, monthly and yearly copies that are locked: nobody can change or delete them, not even with the keys on your server. If an attacker gets in, we restore a copy made before the attack. This covers Plesk sites, and WordPress sites and websites on Enterprise.

Is DRSite GDPR-compliant?

Yes. For the content of your sites we act as your processor under our data processing addendum.
